Block the Ads. Submit a Meeting.
A new guide to blocking gambling ads on social media, plus a form to submit meetings you know about.

Issue #3 · April 1, 2026

Two features this week, both driven by things people actually asked for.

How To Block Gambling Ads on Social Media

If you're in recovery, the last thing you need is a casino ad in your feed. We built a step-by-step guide showing you how to block gambling ads on every major platform:

  • NEW Facebook & Instagram (Meta) — turn off Gambling under Special Topics, plus a keyword-blocking technique where you can search and block terms like "Slots," "Jackpot," "Roulette," and more.
  • NEW Reddit — a dedicated "Allow gambling ads" toggle buried in Privacy settings. One tap and it's off.
  • NEW YouTube & Google — one setting in Google's My Ad Center blocks gambling ads across YouTube, Search, Gmail, and any site running Google ads.
  • NEW TikTok, X (Twitter), Snapchat — instructions for disabling personalized ads and hiding gambling content as it appears.

Each platform section includes screenshots so you know exactly what to look for.

None of these will block 100% of gambling ads, but doing them all together makes a real difference. It takes about 10 minutes to go through every platform.

Submit a Meeting

Know about a GA meeting that isn't listed on our site? Now you can submit it.

  • NEW Meeting submission form — a simple form where anyone can submit a Gamblers Anonymous virtual meeting with the meeting name, Zoom link, day, time, and any other details.
  • Submissions are reviewed before going live to keep the directory accurate.

If your home group meets on Zoom and it's not on the site yet, submit it here. It takes 30 seconds.

Infrastructure Upgrade

We upgraded our backend services to a production-tier plan this week. What that means for you:

  • No more downtime during high traffic — the site stays up even during peak demand. Previously, deployments could be paused during busy periods.
  • More storage headroom — we went from 5 GB to 250 GB capacity, which means room to grow as we add more meetings and features.
  • Service-level guarantees — uptime is now backed by an SLA, not just best-effort.

The site should feel the same — that's the point. It's just more reliable now.

What's Next

  • More meeting data — we're actively reviewing submitted meetings and expanding coverage.
  • Partnership outreach to treatment facilities and state gambling councils.
  • Continued improvements to the ad-blocking guide as platforms update their settings.
