What We've Been Reading
Some weeks are about big launches. This one was quieter on the surface — but we spent it filling out the research library and working on something behind the scenes that we can't wait to share. More on that at the bottom. First, two stories worth your time.
🏛️ A Bill to Study the Crisis
A new federal bill is calling for a comprehensive national study of the gambling addiction crisis — the kind of research that has been missing for years. It's a hopeful sign that the true scale of the harm is finally being taken seriously at the highest levels.
🏈 When Recovery Makes the Headlines
After an unprecedented legal fight, Texas Tech quarterback Brendan Sorsby won't play — a saga that laid bare more than 2,900 bets in 18 months and roughly $90,000 wagered, some of it while he was underage. A court order along the way included counseling and Gamblers Anonymous participation. It's a national sports headline, but underneath it is an addiction story — and a reminder that recovery, not eligibility, is the part that lasts.
📚 Fresh in the Library
We added a lot to the research hub this month:
- Dozens of new educational videos and shorts on gambling, the brain, and recovery
- A new peer-reviewed study, Gender Differences in Gambling Among Finnish Adolescents — boys gambled far more than girls, and gambling clustered with weaker school engagement and other risk behaviors
- Several new news pieces tracking the policy and legal landscape

Something Big Is Coming
Here's the part we're most excited about. We've been quietly building toward something that could change how far this mission reaches — and it's bigger than anything we've done so far. We're not ready to say what it is just yet… but keep an eye on your inbox. You'll be the first to know.
As always, thank you for being part of this. If our mission has helped you, sharing the website with someone else is one of the best ways to help us reach more people in need — and we always welcome your feedback and ideas.
With gratitude 💙
